Has your teen ever thought about starting their own business? Do they think that just because they are young, they have no options other than to wait until they are older? If you listened to our podcast last week, you got a chance to hear us highlight Joseph of ChesCo Woodworks, a teen entrepreneur who is running a successful woodworking business.
Opportunity
Business ownership is a great opportunity for teens to not only earn money, but also learn some great life skills. Many teens would love to start working and are mature enough to work, but many employers will not hire them because they are not the minimum hiring age for their company. Or maybe they aren’t old enough to drive and wouldn’t be able to get to and from job. Enter entrepreneurship – a fancy word for the process of starting and running a business.
It is an amazing time to be a young person today as far as income opportunities! The internet has opened up so many business possibilities for teens. Lots of these businesses can be done remotely without ever having to leave home. Business ownership is not going to be super easy. It will take some work getting started and sometimes they will have jobs to complete when they would rather be hanging out with friends. But there are also many perks to being a teen entrepreneur that may make it a desirable option.
